Unemployment has increased by leaps and bounds and the rate of unemployment is still soaring high. The growing rate of unemployed people is as high as 2.7% per month which is an alarming issue. Most people stay unemployed after graduation because of unavailability of jobs and yet others have been terminated from jobs for some or the other reason.

Now being unemployed, you are in no position to take care of the basic expenses and even if you get some money from government it does not serve the purpose. If you have been terminated from your job and you have insurance, you can claim for it and get the money. But again these insurance people have their own rules where you might need to take up the first job available to you. So this might seem like a bad idea. Loans for the unemployed have become handy and helpful for you.

Lenders, who insisted that unemployed were risky for loans, now are ready to give them loans. Loans for unemployed may either be secured loans or unsecured loans. For borrowers the secured loans is risky and for the lenders the unsecured loan is risky.

As many prefer unsecured loans, the lenders have kept the rate of interest for the loan high. You need to make sure the repayment terms are as per your requirement. Fixed repayment periods might not suit you as you are no longer a salaried employee. You get personal, student, debt consolidation and other types of loans for the unemployed. You need to get your requirement perfect, list out the lenders for your requirement, compare them on the basis of certain factors and find the one suitable to you. This way the risk factor reduces and you get a authentic lender.

Many college students today hit a hurdle before they even start when it comes to finding the funds necessary for college because they have already managed to run up a poor credit history. Fortunately however there are aid and loan packages available today which look principally at need and ignore your credit history and so this is where you will need to start your search for funding.

One of the oldest sources of funding and one which is chiefly available on the basis of economic need is the Pell grant. As long as the student and his family are considered to be a low-income family a Pell grant is more or less automatic and is made on the basis of the submission of supporting documentation.

The student will be required to provide proof of the cost of his intended course (including tuition fees and other qualifying costs) and will also need to provide details of the family’s income from which an EFC (Expected Family Contribution) number will be calculated. On this basis a decision will be made and the grant made or refused.

As the name suggests, a Pell grant is a ‘gift’ and not a loan and it does not have to be repaid. Pell grants are currently for a maximum of $4,731 a year (depending on your assessed financial need) and, while this will not normally cover the full cost of attending college, it can go a long way towards helping. However, most students will need to seek loan funding in addition to a Pell grant and the best form of loan funding initially are Stafford loans.

There are two different types of Stafford loan and the first is a subsidized Stafford loan on which the government pays any interest charges while you are studying full-time and for up to six months after graduation. The second type of Stafford loan is an unsubsidized Stafford loan on which you will be responsible for making all interest payments.

Unsubsidized Stafford loans need to be considered very carefully because, although you will be responsible for making interest payments, you will not be required to do so while you are in full-time education and for up to six months after graduation. However, during this period interest will still be applied to any loan and will simply be added to the outstanding amount of the loan. This means that during a three or four year college course your loan debt can grow substantially and reach a very significant sum by the time you do start paying it off.

Naturally, most students would prefer to have an unsubsidized Stafford loan but loans are disbursed according to the funds available and on the basis of need so that only a minority of students will qualify for a subsidized loan. The good news however is that most students will qualify for an unsubsidized loan and, despite their drawbacks, these still represent one of the best forms of college loan funding available today.

There are of course other forms of grant and loan funding available (and scholarships) and you need to shop around to see just what is available and best suits your circumstances. However for students from low-income families Pell grants and Stafford loans are invariably the best routes to follow.

There are a lot of expenses associated with your college. As a result, a student loan can really help. You will not need to worry about the source of fund when you get the loan approved. Besides, there are also other advantages for getting a student loan.

In fact, there are people who think that it is too troublesome to apply for a student loan. Yes it is true that you need to do a lot of things and complete a lot of forms before you get approved. However, you have to go through these processes if you want to be worry free about your expenses in college.

One of the advantage of a student loan is that you do not need to repay before you graduate if you are getting a federal loan. As a matter of fact, you do not need to repay immediately after graduation either. It will let you have some time to seek for a job before you have to repay. You will start repay about 6 months after you graduate.

Of course the case will be a little bit different if you are going to get a private student loan. In this case you will probably need to pay for the interest when you are still in the school. However, the interest will not be a large amount at the end of the day. If you are paying the expenses with your credit card, you will have to start repaying after the grace period. And student loans certainly have their advantages.

Considering the types of students loans, if you are getting a federal loan, there is a type called subsidized student loan. Students who need financial assistance may get this type of loans. If you get a subsidized loan, no interest will be counted before graduation.

At this point you may probably know that another type is unsubsidized loan. In this case the interest during the time you are in the college will be counted. However, in both cases you will only need to repay after graduation, an mentioned.

You can see that there are a lot of benefits if you can get a student loan. Of course there are students who are wealthier and they do not need to consider such loans. However, to most students, a student loan can really help them to concentrate on studying rather than worrying about source of fund.
